Meeting Minutes - Jan. 16, 2005

The Lego race and line following challenge continued as Lego-built vehicles followed a single closed loop of black tape around a table. Last month, the vehicles were required to ‘drag-race’ along a straight line, in pairs.
Changes to the CIRC website were discussed.
Apollo Theater is hosting a special robot-themed event. They will show movies relevant to the theme, and have speakers on various topics. Additional speakers are needed. Possible topics: New concepts, real-world applications, artificial intelligence, etc.
Caterpillar is sponsoring "First Robotics", a team-oriented competition/challenge for local area high schools. Mentors are needed to assist the high school teams in the following year. For children younger than high school, "Lego First" will utilize Lego-based robots and introduce the children to robotics.
Efforts are underway to get Servo Magazine into schools and public libraries.
A new clear variation of hexapod-walker was brought in (a new Lynxmotion robotics kit).
Paul Pawelski concluded with the Learn to Solder class. Future classes are planned.
