  • Mike Dvorsky - Librarian

Old and New Business

  1. Turnout was low due to the weather. Thanks to all who had the courtesy to let us know ahead of time that they wouldn't be there. I assume that Tom's lathe presentation and Jim's H2 Stealth Walker demonstration will take place at the March meeting.

  2. Mike brought a box of fire-fighting robot parts and a drawing showing how they will go together. He is still planning on competing at Trinity College in April. (My fire-fighting robot will not be done in time for this year's competition.)

  3. Since there were so few people, we didn't discuss club business. Still, I would like to use these minutes to touch on some issues and make an announcement or two.

  4. Solutions Cubed has donated the following merchandise to the club library:

    • 2 Easy Roller Robot Wheel Kits (value: $53 each)
    • 1 Motor Mind C Dual Motor Controller (value: $59)
    • 1 MMC Basic Stamp 2 Carrier Board (value: $59)
    • 1 Mini PID Position Controller (value: $80)

Club members are welcome to borrow these items for a month. If you decide to buy something from Solutions Cubed, keep in mind that CIRC members get a 20% discount.

  5. The results of our 2002 competition have been posted on our web site, but more updates are needed, and they are far too slow in coming.

  6. Someone dropped off at the museum a CD of images and video clips from our 2002 competition. They didn't put their name on it, so I don't know who to thank. I made the content available to our webmaster.

  7. Tom is working on getting us into the Robot Fighting League. It will take a few weeks because RFL is in the process of adopting new bylaws.

  8. Nobody replied when I asked on the mailing list for comments on Larry's suggestion that we charge spectators for admission. I guess we will revisit the issue at a later date.

  9. No one who expressed an opinion about switching to Yahoo Groups for our mailing list was opposed, so we're switching. I'll send a separate email asking everyone to start using Yahoo Groups.

Next meeting: March 16
