Agenda

  1. 2001 Sumo Responsibilities. Mike read through the list of responsibilities for the 2001 Sumo. Most of the essential positions have been filled. The following updates were made during the meeting: Jon Gentil volunteered to videotape the event. Debbie Kruzan will be unable to attend, and so cannot handle the concession stand. Karen Dvorsky will take over concessions. Andrew Black will be the head scorekeeper, assisted by Mike Dvorsky and Steve Julian. A new item was added to the MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT list: Membership Forms, which will be provided by Mike Dvorsky.

  2. 2001 Sumo Plaques. We decided to have plaques for all four autonomous divisions: Lego, Mini, Middle, and Heavy. To reduce the total number of plaques that must be made, plaques will be given only to 1st and 2nd place winners in each division. A paper certificate will be presented to 3rd place winners.

  3. 2001 Sumo Start Time. The competition start time will be moved from 10:00 to 12:00. Larry will contact Beth with a request to update the time stated in the flyer on the web site. There was some debate regarding whether we would have time to complete all the competitions and demonstrations, give out awards, and clean up before 5:00 (when we must be out of the auditorium). The concern still exists, but it was felt important to allow out-of-town participants to arrive, and to give people time for lunch before the competition.

  4. 2001 Sumo RC Division. The RC division is a demonstration this year, with no plaques or prizes.

  5. 2001 Sumo Registration Fees. Mini, Middle, and Heavy divisions will have a $5.00 registration fee. There will be no registration fee for Lego.

  6. 2002 Elections. According to the constitution, the 2002 elections must be held by the end of the year, so they will be held at the December meeting. We will start taking nominations for officer candidates immediately after the sumo competition. Nominations will be closed 1 week before the December meeting. The secretary will bring ballots printed with nominees. Absentee ballots will be considered, but must be received before the meeting.

  7. Web Site Updates. The club web site will be updated with more current contest information, including an online registration form and list of current registrants. Mike will contact Beth with specific updates requested by the Executive Committee.

  8. Incorporation. The incorporation papers have been signed and mailed.

  9. Line Following. The February meeting will host an informal line following competition.

Next meeting: The Sumo Competition will replace the next meeting, on November 17.
