Agenda
- T-Shirt Design Vote. The winning t-shirt design was selected from three
finalists by a vote of membership present. The winning t-shirt was "Bot
Attack", by Larry Kruzan. Larry will receive a free t-shirt with his
design. The other entries were made by Peter Campbell and Jim Frye. Thanks
to all who entered.
- 2001 Sumo. It was confirmed that there will be five robot classes:
Heavy Weight (Japanese), Middle Weight, Mini, Lego, and RC. Prizes will be
awarded for the autonomous Heavy/Middle/Mini classes, and perhaps for others
if enough prizes are donated.
Larry asked for volunteers to help organize the 2001 Sumo contest. Jim Frye
volunteered to maintain the email agenda/to-do list.
- Fund Raising. Larry solicited ideas for club fund raising. There were
no ideas put forth in the meeting, but members are encouraged to keep
thinking of ways the club can raise funds.
- T-Shirt Giveaway. A drawing was held for a free club t-shirt. All
members were eligible. The winner was James Holtman.
- Incorporation. The paperwork is nearly complete and will ready for
signature at the next executive board meeting.
- Robowars. The competition is held in St. Louis on July 7. Jeff Fazio is
arranging for free admission for club members. We will be giving a
demonstration at the event. Remember to wear your club t-shirt if you go!
- Size Limit. Larry put forth the idea of removing the size limit for
robots, leaving only the weight limits. This would allow designers an extra
degree of freedom. (Any change would not be implemented until after the
2001 competition.) There was little discussion during the meeting.
- Line Following Competition. A line following competition was held with 4 robots entered. Results:
1st place: Dino Trax by Jim Frye
2nd place: Lefty by Mike Dvorsky
3rd place: Lybow by Andrew Black
4th place: Goober by Larry Kruzan
- RC Competition. The meeting ended with an informal RC competition.
Next meeting: June 10
