Old Business

  1. Bylaws. Proposed club bylaws were presented and discussed. The following sections had been completed and were discussed:
  2. * Article II: Membership, Section 1: Full Membership
It was suggested that part a) be revised to read "Membership shall be for a period of one year." The phrase "calendar year" should be changed to "year" since the intent is that membership be for one year from the date of joining, not from January 1 to December 31.

    * Article II: Membership, Section 2: Student Membership
    No changes were suggested.

    * Article II: Membership, Section 3: Family Membership
    No changes were suggested.

    * Article II: Membership, Section 4: Honorary Membership
    No changes were suggested.

    * Article III: Dues, Section 2: Dues
    No changes were suggested.

  3. Incorporation. Larry stated that he has ordered the incorporation forms from the state, but the forms have not arrived yet.

New Business

  1. Sumo Planning Committee. Discussion of the Sumo Planning Committee was tabled until the next meeting.

  2. T-shirt Design Contest. Larry announced the start of a T-shirt design contest. The contest is open to anybody. All entries are due by April 15, 2001. The winning design will be selected by the Executive Officers, and the winner will receive a free T-shirt. Two-color designs are preferred. The secretary will announce the contest on the club mailing list and information will be placed on the web site.

  3. Membership. Larry encouraged those present to seek out new members for the club.

  4. Robo Wars. Club members will travel to St. Louis in July for the Robo Wars contest. At least two members intend to have robots to compete. This contest is similar to a souped-up sumo contest. There is a 10-lb weight limit, no size limit, no weapons dangerous to spectators. Robots are remote controlled, and win by disabling the opponent or pushing the opponent out of the 8' by 8' ring. Contest info at http://members.igateway.net/~jfinazzo/robowars.htm.

  5. RC Sumo Class. There was a brief discussion of the club's RC Sumo Class. The current size and weight limits are 8 x 8 inches 3.3 lb.

  6. Middle Weight Competition. A competition was held between three middle-weight robots. Results will be posted on the web site.

Next meeting: March 18
